This position will be responsible for adherence to financial policy and controls, improving internal business processes, and will be a key staff member of the plant leadership team serving as the plant manager's "right hand" person to provide financial analyses and recommendations to assist in achieving strategic & financial objectives; moreover, providing "proactive" analysis & reporting departmental key metrics, making recommendations on corrective actions, and enforcing budget accountability. Responsible for budget (plan)/trend forecast and provide explanation of significant variances, including analysis of actual vs. budget (plan). Focus on business planning, month-end results and reporting. A strong link between the plant's business plan vs. actual results in order to quickly indentify problem areas. Accurate data gathering and analysis in a timely manner (i.e. - labor costs) for various meetings or ad hoc requests.The Plant controller position will lead the monthly financial processes of plant financial closing, unabsorbed reconcilations, inventory reconciliations, general ledger entries (as required), standard cost reconciliation, changes in Fixed Assets (ensure control and integrity of company assets) and forecast adjustments to budget/plan. Held responsible to ensure all plant accounting activities comply with GAAP, Timken policies, and sound business practice... Key responsibilities of this role include: *Coordinating & preparing internal financial reporting (i.e. - Plant controllable/non-controllable spending model, departmental key metrics rolled up to the SBU (Steel Business Unit). *Support Plant Management with basic training to retrieve cost data out of the system; moreover, providing support to SBU with the Standard Cost Development Process (JCS, ABM) *Proactively interact with Departmental Managers & the Management team as well as SBU to ensure all parties have a clear and accurate picture of the plant's overall financial performance. *Support CI/PI initiatives (participation in plant Kaizen & Lean6Sigma events), ensuring projects are defined with clear financial objectives & results are tracked & reported. *Team Leader with the development of the annual plant business plans (budgets) rolled up to the SBU level. *Co-manage along with the engineering manager the capital process & provide guidance/assistance preparing AR's. *Proactively researching issues - anticipating opportunities and providing answers & insight to key questions before they are asked. *Assessing current accounting operations, offering recommendations for improvement, and implementing new processes. *Evaluate plant accounting & internal control systems (review of corporate policies, plant purchasing authorities, SOX compliance) *Plant variance reporting (reconciliation & explanation of manufacturing variances (i.e. - yield loss such as alloy variances, pit scrap, etc.) *Creation of forward looking financial models and "what if" modeling capabilities...Review/Forecasting the trends, cost/benefit, margin impact (make vs. buy, etc.)...Enhancing the decision making process *Properly accounting for expenses in the applicable period(s) as well as assisting with month-end journal entries (i.e. - accruals, cost of production entries, etc.) *Accounting for Plant Research & Development Costs. *Hiring, training, and retaining competent accounting staff. *Providing support to Internal & External Auditors.Requirements: Bachelors Degree in Accounting/Finance/Business with 8-15 years of experience. Master's Degree in Accounting/Finance/Business with 7-10 years of experience. in CPA/CMA. Experience in Manufacturing Accounting roles with a focus on cost accounting. Experience in Manufacturing Planning & Budgeting roles. Solid communication, analytical & leadership skills Strong fundamental "know-how" in accounting/finance/business related topics. Ability to develop & conduct training sessions for both groups & individuals. Ability to understand all changes in mfg strategy and provide insight.
