Plant Accountant

Vesuvius USA, a world leader in the design, engineering, manufacturing and delivery of refractory products, systems and services for high-technology industrial applications, is currently seeking a Plant Accountant in our Chicago Heights, IL plant.

Reporting to the Plant Manger, the Plant Accountant will have primary responsibilities for providing financial and business related analysis to assess the impact of various plant projects and transactions. This position will become an integral member of the local management team with emphasis on cost and inventory control. The incumbent’s primary focus will be to develop the annual budget and current year projections. The incumbent will develop and update annual standard costs for plants including the development of conversion cost absorption rates for the Chicago Heights Plant. The incumbent will maintain standard cost for the Regional Consignment and Warehouse locations. The incumbent will develop cost for new products as they are identified. The incumbent will monitor products Bill of Materials and Routings (product costing). The incumbent will recommend improvements in procedures to ensure or increase efficiency. The incumbent will prepare and analyzes monthly activity and variance reports including a monthly review with plant management. The incumbent will maintain Plant Financial Inventory Reports and monitor slow moving/obsolete stock. The incumbent will assist with maintaining internal controls to increase overall plant performance and review interdepartmental product transfers.

A BA in Accounting (Finance or Business) is required. Four plus years of experience in a manufacturing environment preferred. Incumbent must have demonstrated knowledge and understanding of fundamental concepts, practices and procedures in the Accounting/Finance field. Incumbent must have demonstrated knowledge of project management principles, practices, techniques and tools. Good communication skills and computer literacy required. Experience with JD Edwards One World XE preferred.
