Parts Sourcing Buyer

PDQ Manufacturing, Inc., a vehicle wash manufacturer, has an immediate opening for a

Sourcing Buyer. This exciting opportunity will have you responsible for source

selection and procurement functions directly associated with supporting the Company’s

parts business.  You will develop and deploy sourcing strategies that enhance the supply

chain, with an emphasis on global sourcing strategies.  A key goal is to identify and

source additional products that promote revenue growth through parts sales channels. 

Additional duties include the following:

 

· Leverage Dover and outside resources to develop new low-cost country vendors and supply channels.

· Ensure PDQ parts provide the highest quality parts at the lowest possible price, leveraging Dover connections to provide a competitive advantage in the market.

· Secures and analyzes quotations and recommends suppliers with respect to cost, quality, and delivery competitiveness.

· Visits suppliers’ facilities to qualify them as new sources and assists in the resolution of production, design, quality, and/or delivery problems. 

· Communicates regularly with vendors to stay abreast of latest developments at the vendors affecting business relationships, technology, cost or quality.

· Responsible for the timely planning, scheduling of receipt, and inventory control of the parts as required by the business. 

· Studies market prices and trends, engineering developments, product availability, and alternative vendor sources to ensure an uninterrupted flow of materials to meet business requirements.

· Initiates purchase orders or bid requests, inspects sample products, and coordinates with plant engineering to assure timely execution of sourcing activities.

· Interviews and confers with current and prospective suppliers to determine supply capabilities, transportation logistics inventory control, and negotiates prices and delivery terms.

· Coordinates as appropriate, quality matters and engineering changes/developments between company activities and suppliers. 

· Implements strategies to accomplish low cost sourcing while maintaining high quality products. 

 

Success requires the following:

· A Bachelors degree in Operations, Business, Materials Management, or related field is required.

· A minimum of 5-7 years purchasing experience with progressively increased responsibilities is required, preferably in a high volume manufacturing or electro-mechanical assembly environment. 

· International sourcing experience is required.

· Prior experience with import/export regulations and international logistics is a must.

· Strong analytical ability to enable comparison of landed purchase cost for various sourcing alternatives.

· Excellent communication skills and desire to work in fast paced, collaborative, team environment.

· Previous experience negotiating best vendor terms, pricing and delivery is essential.

· NAPM or APICS certification (or evidence of progress toward certification) is preferred.

· Computer proficiency in a Windows environment is required, preferably with Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and Outlook.

· Proficiency with SyteLine or related manufacturing software is required.

· Must possess extremely strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.

· Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles and experience in a Lean Manufacturing environment is required.

· Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
