Packaging Machine Operators

Position Summary:

 

Working under the direction of shift supervisor and perform duties to include: 
- Operate a bank of vertical packaging machines.

- Monitor process settings to ensure product quality and production targets are met.

- Supervise packers assigned to packaging machines.

 

Responsibilities: 



- Operate vertical form, fill and seal packaging machine.

- Monitor machines, making adjustments when necessary.

- Ensure the code date, graphics and registration of the bags are correct.

- Perform product tests to ensure compliance to standards.

- Record production and test data.

- Minimize waste of packaging material.

- Monitor gauges, thermometers and other instrumentation.

- Record downtime information and any process changes made.

- Aid packers.
- Complete and submit required paperwork accurately and in a timely manner. 
- Achieve performance levels as set by the company. 
- Keep work areas clean and orderly at all times and perform other housekeeping duties as assigned. 
- Work overtime as needed to complete assigned duties. 
- Perform all other duties as assigned. 


Qualifications: 
- Must be able to read, speak, write and communicate effectively at the work location.

- Ability to follow written instructions.

- Practice safe working habits.

- Must have excellent attention to detail.

- Must be able to demonstrate the skills and abilities necessary to safely operate the equipment. 
- Knowledge of basic math.

- Ability to accurately identify and weigh product ingredients. 
- Ability to perform assigned or required work with minimal supervision. 
- Ability to recognize conditions or situations that would have a negative impact on customer service or facility operations, and take appropriate follow-up action. 
- Must be able to manually move and stack material weighing up to 50 pounds.

- Must be able to stand 8-12 hours.

- Must pass interview, tests, drug and background screening.
