PRODUCTION ENGINEER (Manufacturing Additives)
Desription
Our Client is the largest manufacturer of Coatings in the world. Their Functional Chemical business makes chemical intermediates and performance chemicals which are used in everything from toothpaste, ice cream, camera film, paints to lipstick. The Axis facility produces additives and resins.
They are seeking for their Axis, Alabama facility a PRODUCTION ENGINEER.
This position reports to the Production Superintendent
Purpose/Key objectives:
The main responsibility of the Production Engineer is to maintain quality and improve the performance of assigned units. This includes:Responsible for efficient operation and continuous improvement program using SPC, statistically designed experiments, and other methods as needed.Coordinate contract maintenance, genreral monitoring of the control system and operation of plant.Work on increasing capacity of the assigned unit.Work on increasing the yield and quality of products produced in the assigned unit.
The Production Engineer also assists in modification, optimization, major process improvement and capital projects within the site units from process analysis, project conception and development through project management and start up. This includes:Assists with aspects of major project work including development of appropriation requests.Participate in process design and coordinates all major shutdowns/turnarounds as required.Performs special process or maintenance studies as requested.Assists in training other employees, engineers, operators, etc in equipment and/or process changes.Inherent in this position's accountability is ongoing commitment and response to ISO compliance as well as health and safety.
Required qualifications:BS or MS Chemical Engineering2-5 years in a chemical plant environment.
