Creates designs incorporating quality process steps by utilizing his/her knowledge of materials, equipment, and processing methods. Designs must reflect sound engineering principles and judgment. 2. Produces required documentation to support the design effort including, but not limited to, Engineering Specifications (ES's), Engineering Change Orders (ECO's), Engineering Change Procedures (ECP's), Material Specifications (MS's), and cost work-ups. Formats used shall meet Company practices and policies. 3. Responsible for the issue of accurate, up-to-date documents including design parameters, processes, and methods of construction, and materials needed to complete production. 4. Provides assistance to other departments in the resolution of problems and concerns as they relate to the product design. 5. Responsible for searching new design methods, materials, and processes, that will improve efficiency, performance, and product reliability. 6. Creates cost estimates for designs using knowledge of manufacturing processes and capabilities. 7. Provides written responses to customer requests for quotation, specifications, and inquiries as directed. 8. Creates formal specifications in accordance with standard Company format containing the technical data necessary to procure and evaluate materials and services used in the production of Company products. 9. Analyzes, investigates, and provides written reports on product complaints as assigned. 10. Keeps abreast of new developments in the engineering field as relates to Company products. 11. Provides assistance and training to newly hire Design Engineers and acts for the Supervisor of Design Engineering in their absence. 12. Assists in supervising and coordinating the activities of the design department. 13. Responsible for accurately maintaining written and electronically stored records created during the design effort including, but not limited to, ES's, ECO's, ECP's, MS's, and cost work-ups. 14. Supervises and reviews the work of Design Engineers personally participating in the projects of the department as required to complete assigned activities in an efficient and timely manner. 15. Travels as necessary and directed to perform the required functions of the job as outlined in this description. 16. Performs other duties as assigned. Design and Manufacturing preferred.
