PAYROLL LEAD
Description:This position involves the compliance review, analysis, input, reconciliation and reporting for all payroll activity for approximately 10,000 employees. This individual must have the ability to analyze information and determine and implement resolution quickly and in compliance with regulatory requirements. The incumbent participates in various project and research activities pertinent to the payroll processing. Serves as a subject matter expert anticipating key business problems and proposing and implement change to improve business processes and increase customer satisfaction. Individual must assume ownership of their responsibilities and consistently adhere to extensive deadlines.Functional ExpertiseResponsible for coordinating the processing day to day payroll operations with outsourced payroll provider, including processing payments and deductions, administering existing compensation plan payments/bonuses and special year end programs. Analyze transactions for regulatory compliance and in accordance with policies, procedures, union agreements and required internal control documentation.Analyze, audit and input wage assignment deductions in accordance with court orders. Process payments to agencies, including coordination of "special payments", based upon individual state/federal requirements.Respond to requests for wage/personnel information as a result of court orders, pending litigation, request of employee or unemployment compensation requests.Research available literature, documentation, regulations for adherence to new regulations or pending rulings on existing regulations. Make recommendations for action and assist in design and implementation of various initiatives resulting from research.Consult with internal and external agencies/vendors to secure clarification, recommendation or legal opinions on compliance and regulation, as needed.Participate in integration of acquisitions, mergers, plant closing or pay frequency conversions, identifying possible issues and making recommendations for resolution.Author and disseminate basic reports as needed company wide. Support customers through reporting and analysis of employee data. Responsible for compiling and analyzing data, determining appropriate format and developing spreadsheets or other computer generated reports using appropriate software packages and report writers.Exhibits thorough understanding of balance sheet activity and criticality of financial reporting. Partners with accounting team members to ensure diligent reconciliation of balance sheet accounts. Assist Payroll Time Tech with time related tickets, from SAP time system, which effect employees pay.Qualifications:B.B.A. in Accounting or Finance is preferred. Associate Degree and equivalent payroll work experience will be considered.Three to five years of payroll experience is required, with preference to experience in large corporations operating in multi-states. Proven proficiency in Microsoft Excel required, with experience in various mainframe and software applications preferred. Experience with represented organizations a plus. Individual should possess strong organizational skills and proven ability to meet deadlines. Position requires excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to participate effectively in a team environment.
