Oracle Applications Database Adminsrator (DBA)

Local Manufacturer seeking an Oracle Applications Database Administrator (DBA) to be part of the Information Technology team to support existing implementations as well as new initiatives.  Application areas include G/L, AP, FA, CE, Purchasing, Demantra, ASCP (Advanced Supply Chain Planning) and Portal  .This position will work closely with both the Application and Technical staffs in an Oracle release 11i (11.5.10) environment with plans to upgrade to release 12.0.

 

The position requires a flexible, self-motivated, team player with a minimum of 5 years experience in managing backups, scripting, installation, monitoring, troubleshooting and tuning databases.  The successful Candidate will be able to manage assigned projects, generate solutions to application and technical issues, report analysis and provide deliverables in a timely and efficient manner.

 

 

Responsibilities

 Maintain high availability of the production systems and all supporting systemsInstall, configure and manage database and Oracle application instancesIdentify problems and implement solutionsEnsure the databases are tuned for optimal efficiencyWork closely with the Development team to setup and perform database, application and workflow monitoring and tuningMaintain high system availability which includes on-call supportMonitor database performance and take corrective action as neededEstablish and monitor database backup and recovery strategiesConfigure and maintain Application tier to ensure availability of forms and reportsRequest, apply and test patches to Oracle ApplicationsMonitor alert logs and trace filesPerform application administration functions such as concurrent manager configuration, troubleshooting, user administration, customize menus, define responsibilities and change profile optionsPerform migrations through various development states and then productionRequest changes to the infrastructure via Operating System patchesMaintain space availability for applications and usersManage replications, cloning and instance refreshesUpgrade technology executables and coordinate activity with System Administrator.Perform capacity planning, trend analysis and forecast future database resource requirements

Qualifications

 5 years of DBA and Production support experience in an Oracle 11i environmentStrong Oracle Application implementation, patching experience and troubleshooting skills in mission critical environmentsProven experience with backup and restore scripting proceduresProven experience with RMAN and cloning Oracle Application environmentsExperience with AIX, Linux and Unix scriptingExperience with Oracle Application ServerStrong Oracle Application testing skillsStrong knowledge of SQL, PL/SQL stored procedures and tuning SQL.Experience and understanding of disaster recover strategies in an Oracle environmentAbility to document policies and proceduresExcellent verbal and written communication skillsIndependent thinker and problem solverAbility to handle multiple tasks concurrentlyBachelor’s Degree in Computer Sciences or equivalent
