Operations Planning / Purchasing Manager

Company Description:

Global manufacturer of industrial valves, actuators, and related control products.  Company is profitable, independent, and privately-held.  Total number of employees worldwide is several hundred; sales revenue is proprietary.  Corporate HQ and US operations are based in Houston.  Company has manufacturing in 8 countries, with marketing and distribution worldwide.

 

Position Responsibilities:

Has management responsibility for Purchasing and Operations Planning functions, with managers/ supervisors of these functions reporting to this position

Leads various initiatives focused on cost and service improvement

Coordinates purchasing and operations planning functions with material management and production functions

Leads integrated problem-solving efforts related to daily supply-chain activities inside and outside the company 

 

Ideal Experience:

Supervisory/managerial experience in manufacturing environment, preferably industrial equipment fabrication, machining, and/or assembly

Functional experience in purchasing, production planning, and/or production operations

 

Qualifications:

Bachelors degree

Extensive experience using an ERP system to plan and control inventory and shop-floor operations

Proficient with MS Office applications (Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint)

Excellent oral and written communication skills

High-energy, flexible, self-starter, hands-on, comfortable working with little or no administrative support.

Capable of expressing opinions openly while managing conflict and moving the team toward problem resolution.

Attention to detail

Able to adapt to new situations

Potential to grow within a short time into the position of Operations Manager with overall responsibility for plant operations
