MAJOR PURPOSE OF POSITION:
Establish and maintain the most economical programming and costs for all NC/CNC manufacturing processes by utilizing all involved Industrial Engineering and NC/CNC programming concepts.
JOB FUNCTIONS
1) Programming: Utilize computer aided design/computer aided manufacturing (CAD/CAM), Gibbscam software and related computer technology to develop programs for NC/CNC machinery at the highest levels of productivity and quality, and at the most economical cost. Broad knowledge of CNC machining, mills, lathes, vertical, and horizontal, Able to understand and interpret output (G code level) from CAM systems.
Assist senior staff members in the development of post processors required for CAM system, also the creation of Process sheet" templates used for setup sheets, tool lists, and rating of jobs.
Capable of programming machines with up to 4 axis.
2) Providing technical support for shop floor- process improvements, cost savings, setup assistance; Create operation specifications and supporting documents; Revise and/or update programs to reflect engineering or program changes and maintains current revisions on file.
3) Routing/Rating: Determine the most economical manufacturing methods, jigs, fixtures, templates and tooling so as to insure efficient planning information, labor control and costing procedures, by the accurate interpretation and application of incentive time values to provide an equitable incentive opportunity.
4) Conduct and interpret all forms of work measurement by applying the required techniques for timestudy and work sampling in order to witness pilot runs, provide statistics for new/revised incentive plans, grievance resolution, workcenter efficiencies and labor performance audits.
5) Project assignments: Involvement with capital property program justifications, quality projects, tooling and/or material testing, cost reduction, engineering design liaison, plant and facility layouts so as to determine the most economical procedure and provide decision information.
ORGANIZING AND PLANNING
Develop and maintain efficient work habits, including accurate, legible and clear statistical records, priority planning, and follow-up procedure in order to achieve the timely completion of normal and/or critical tasks.
COMMUNICATION
Develop and maintain verbal and written skills required to effectively provide functional information to production and management personnel.
COOPERATION
Develop and maintain a professional and consistent level of behavior and empathy by tactfully recommending ideas and retaining emotional control to insure an understanding acceptance of Industrial Engineering practices.
DEVELOPMENT OF OTHERS
Provide directional guidance to NC/CNC programmers, line supervision and production workers.
PRINCIPAL CHALLENGES
Continual research to keep abreast of current and future developments in manufacturing technologies. Master most phases of Industrial Engineering.
KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS
High School diploma or equivalent. Shop experience (preferably journeyman) in assigned area of responsibility. Education beyond high school preferred.
TYPE AND LENGTH OF EXPERIENCE
Minimum of two years of NC/CNC programming and/or Industrial Engineering experience in a manufacturing environment. Experience may be obtained through machine programming and operation.
GENERAL INFORMATION
Due to product and manufacturing knowledge, this position may be called upon to assist with all levels of shop problem solving.

REVIEW AND APPROVALS
Authority to decide methods, operational sequence, rates used for incentive earnings and cost calculations under General Supervisor guidance.
Recommends tooling, machinery, plant layouts, first and second step grievance answers with final approval from General Supervisor.
