Mgr Finance

I. Job Summary Controller for recycling assets, responsible for month-end close process, accurate financial reporting, compliance with Waste Management policies and procedures, SOX 404, and internal controls. Financial business partner to Operations District Manager and reports directly to the Market Area Sr. Manager. II. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other minor duties may be assigned. * Financial controls and analyses for designated geographic region, responsible for month end close procedures and all financial reporting and variance explanations. Analyzes the on-going profitability of all new business and/or programs entered into by the company. Compares financial results to planned or forecasted results and explains variances and recommendations for future actions. Develops and directs a costing function for existing and proposed operations. Implements and maintains a pricing model reflecting both current and marginal cost conditions to support the pricing process. Coordinates the pricing process with Sales and Marketing and Operations for both existing and proposed operations or programs. Evaluates program parameters and time studies and recommends pricing levels based on cost data and desired profitability levels. Periodically analyzes pricing to determine profitability by service offering and/or customer. Recommends pricing adjustments based on the results of the analysis. Directs the preparation of all accounting and financial reports relating to proposed new business operations for management and operations review. Analyzes significant variances from planned or forecasted results in order to provide interpretative comments and recommendations to management. Provides analysis and evaluation of cost/expense problems and profit improvement opportunities existing within current business activities. Assists in the development of the long range strategic plan for existing, new or proposed business operations. Maintains an in-depth knowledge of the financial stability of the company's major customers and the overall financial climate of the company's market. Develops and implements financial statistical measures to evaluate the existing and future financial situation and makes timely recommendations to staff managers concerning major changes in the existing environment. Reviews consolidated month-end results and provides input for deviations from plan or projected results. Provides recommendations for future cost reductions or profit improvements, as well as adjustments to forecasts. III. Supervisory Responsibilities None IV. Education and Experience Required: Bachelor's Degree, or equivalent experience, in Accounting, Business Administration, or similar area of study, and seven to ten years previous experience Preferred: Master's Degree, or equivalent experience, in Accounting, Business Administration or similar area of study, and seven to ten years previous experience.
