The primary responsibility is to design and develop products used in Fluid Handling systems. Position involves project responsibility from concept through project completion.Job Results Areas: On time completion of assigned projects which meet Product Specifications Innovative and practical solutions to internal and external customer needs Continuous development of technical expertise and application to design projects Effective cross functional teamwork using simultaneous engineering method Effective administrative planning, and personnel administration and developmentResponsibilities: Participate as a member or leader of a in new product development design team Participation in development of Product Specification Complete project feasibility and Pre-Prod authorizations Create and maintain project schedules and manage project to meet schedules Produce conceptual designs Creation of detailed design drawings Definition of applicable standards Analysis of design to applicable standards Analysis of design using engineering analysis tools and techniques (Finite Element Analysis, etc.) Review of instruction manual and product literature Define and lead prototype development and lab and field tests Work effectively in a team environment Work with manufacturing on process development Participate in release for sale activities Provide periodic oral and written reports of project status Conduct design reviews, safety reviews Administer personnel reviews, salary plans and employee development plans for direct reports Supervise and give work direction to direct reports which may include technicians, designers, and engineers Provide on-going employee training and development Determine customer requirements, and evaluate Graco & Competitive products per those requirements. Direct and perform standard product support activities such as: analyzing and writing Engineering Change Orders for products; troubleshooting product problems in manufacturing, lab, or customer sites; small projects ("Minors") such as cost reductions, packages, product upgrades; Initiate corrective action activities. Stay abreast of developments in technical field to maintain technical knowledge earn, participate in development, and apply knowledge of: product line, operational systems, industry design standards, Quality Management System, and customer applications and requirementsQualifications: BS degree in engineering from an accredited institution or equivalent (advanced degree preferred) Good oral and written communication skills Good mechanical/electrical aptitude 3-5 years experience in new product development with demonstrated ability to produce innovative and successful products Ability to plan and lead product development projects Ability to select, supervise, and develop personnel Professional engineering registration (EIT/PE) preferred Experience with computer applications Experience with Simultaneous Engineering product development process Experience with fluid handling equipment design and developmentGraco offers attractive compensation, benefits, and opportunities for both professional development and career progression.
