Mechanical Engineer III
FUJIFILM Dimatix, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of FUJIFILM Corporation, is the world's premier provider of piezoelectric ink jet printheads. Our products are designed to accurately dispense a wide range of fluid types in micro-amounts for demanding imaging and fabricating applications. We are looking for a Mechanical Engineer to join our Advanced Development group. This is a senior level position that will add bandwidth to the current Systems Engineering capability. Activities will include electro-mechanical design of new ink jet printing systems, as well as problem solving and analysis of existing systems. Strong 3D CAD capabilities are required, good analytical skills are highly desirable. Scope of activities will range from initial concept through volume production, working both independently and with a variety of groups. ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES: Perform electro-mechanical design and analysis of printer systems, printheads and test equipment. Work in cooperation with other individuals and groups on a regular basis. Routinely work on multiple concurrent projects. Carry design from concept, through prototype and into volume production. Use 3D CAD tools (SolidWorks experience preferred) to create designs and documentation. Work with outside vendors to procure and fabricate components. Conduct feasibility studies and testing on new and modified designs. Analyze electromechanical systems to resolve problems and enhance performance. Use instrumentation, such as accelerometers, laser displacement sensors, oscilloscopes, etc., to measure and analyze performance of parts and systems. Use Excel or other analysis software to organize data and draw conclusions. Create documentation and presentations to communicate designs and analyses to others.

REQUIRED: Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent years of related experience. 10 or more years of related experience-- with 6 or more years experience in complex, precision electro-mechanical product development and 5 or more years 3D CAD experience, SolidWorks preferred. Problem-solving skills utilizing science and engineering education to arrive at practical solutions. Experience with design of machined metal, molded plastic and sheet metal parts and assemblies. Experience in bringing products through the design cycle, including generation of design, prototyping, debug and manufacturing. Ability to use instrumentation such as oscilloscopes, accelerometers and displacement sensors. Ability to work cooperatively with others on a regular basis. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Good documentation skills. Self motivated, good planning skills, and detail oriented. DESIRED: Advanced degree in related field. Experience in the ink-jet printer industry. High energy and excitement about designing and analyzing printer systems. Good analytical abilities, including high level math, statistics and computer aided analysis. Experience designing to micron level precision. Experience with document revision control system, PDMWorks preferred. Finite element analysis experience, COSMOS preferred. Understanding of digital and analog electronics, software and microprocessors. Understanding of control system theory and/or experience with control systems. Experience with phases and gates or similar product life cycle development environment. Optical design experience. Experience in manufacturing or clean room protocol. Experience with semiconductor fabrication.
