Mechanical Designer

MQ Power is a leading manufacturer of high-quality portable power generators from 20kW to 2000MW.  We have embarked on an R&D design and documentation project for one of our product lines.  This is a contract position with possibility of becoming a direct hired at completion of project.

 

This position is based in our Rancho Dominguez manufacturing facility and be relied upon to provide actual manufacturing data to the rest of the design team in Lewisville, TX.  This will entail spending time in the production areas get data on undocumented parts.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

 

· Develop detailed parts, weldments, sub-assemblies and top-level assemblies with SolidWorks.

· Analyzes the risks of the design or process and communicates results to project lead.

· Provides support to manufacturing to ensure product is fabricated and assembled based on the intended functionality of the design.

· Interfaces with others in the organization and vendors to jointly determine project needs and solutions.

· Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in written mathematical or diagram formats.

· Support Engineering Department needs as required. 

· Other duties may be assigned by the Engineering Manager and/or project lead.

 

Education and/or Experience  

 

· Expertise in SolidWorks 2008

· 4+ years experience with rotating machinery, construction equipment and/or electrical equipment.

· Strong PC skills including MS Office

· Experience with SAP is desirable, but not required

 

Other Skills

 

·  Strong verbal, communication, time management and organizational skills.

· Ability to work with minimal supervision.  

· May be required to work extra hours as may be required for the project time-line
