Summary:
The mechanical design engineer will be a key contributor to the product development group at SAGE Electrochromics, focusing on control systems for SageGlass® window products. This individual will collaborate with electronic and software engineers and industrial designers on mechanical aspects of a range of exciting new products, including photovoltaic-powered systems and sensor-based control systems, with demanding aesthetic, integration and performance requirements.
Key responsibilities include:Develop packaging for SageGlass® control products including, for example, user interfaces, on-window sensors and photovoltaic panels.Collaborate with the engineering team on R&D activities including, for example, brainstorming creative problems to market needs, development of test systems, development and evaluation of prototypes, and optical design.Collaborate with industrial design specialist and marketing groups to ensure designs meet demanding architectural aesthetic and usability requirements.Develop, maintain and report on project plans and schedulesHelp team develop and improve engineering procedures including part numbering and CAD archiving systems.Occasionally assist with mechanical engineering needs of manufacturing operations as required.
Requirements:A degree in mechanical engineering or equivalentSolid modeling and advanced surfacing proficiencyFive years experience in product designDemonstrated ability developing packaging solutions for electronic productsWell versed in material properties, compatibilities, and fabrication techniquesExcellent verbal and written communication skills
The ideal candidate will also have:Two or more years experience with SolidWorksGood understanding of opticsThorough grasp of material failure modes
