Mechanical Design & Applications Engineer

Ferrotec (USA) is part of a global organization with offices throughout the US, Europe, and Asia-Pacific regions. The company designs, manufactures, and supplies magnetic liquids, Ferrofluidicâ rotary-shaft seals for vacuum and industrial applications, fabricated quartz products, E-beam guns, and thermoelectric products.

 

We are seeking a Mechanical Design & Applications Engineer to work in our Bedford, NH office.  Responsibilities include customer liaison work, technical qualification of new product design, and design engineering of custom-sealed rotary spindles and rotary motion assemblies. Supervises engineering staff.  Creates new designs, participates in design reviews and assumes engineering responsibility for the overall design integrity of assigned products. Directs or performs the evaluation of problems encountered in design, manufacturing, or service. Requires attention to detail, excellent understanding of mechanical engineering principles, and the ability to work in a challenging, fast-paced environment.  Involves light travel. 

 

Qualifications include a BS in mechanical engineering and 5-10 years experience or equivalent.  A thorough understanding of motion control mechanisms, including motors, encoders and drivers is preferred.  Vacuum and semiconductor equipment experience is a plus. Experience with 2-D CAD required; AutoCAD experience and 3-D CAD experience strongly desired.  Experienced engineering managers are encouraged to apply.
