Responsible for supporting the planning and procurement needs of the Laser Products organization. This position will work with Management to develop and implement Material Procurement, Handling and Inventory procedures.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
• Work with Engineering to create and update Bill of Materials (BOM) for manufacturing of
products.
• Creates all associated documentation for the BOM, including part number request, disposition
letters, and POs.
• Responsible for using MRP to track needed materials and provide status for all associated
parties.
• Place orders by fax and/or telephone for assigned materials, after carefully screening
requisitions for accuracy and details.
• Obtain bid and quotations as required and select the best qualified supplier. Negotiate with
suppliers regarding terms, prices, delivery, and specifications.
• Work with Materials Manager to review inventory demands and optimize inventory levels.
• Supports other Planning/Buying positions as needed to foster a group/team effort and provides
consultation to groups to ensure minimal business risks.
• Responsible for monitoring the disposition of obsolete parts and supplier returns for rejected
products and help resolve supplier's quality issues.
• Assists Business Development and Project Management with feasibility of new projects.
• Initiates projects that eliminate non-value added activities, increases quality and service,
and reduces costs.
• Performs other related duties a required.

• Bachelor’s degree (BA or BS)
• 4-5 years of prior experience planning and purchasing of materials in a manufacturing
environment
• Advanced computer skills (Microsoft Office Suite)
• Attention to detail
• Ability to work with little or no supervision.
• Ability to work under time pressure.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills required
• Team player
• Excellent organizational skills
PREFFERED QUALIFICATIONS
• SAP experience preferred
• Degree in business or scientific field preferred
• CPM and/or CPIM certification preferred.
