My client is a diversified technology company with a long history of developing breakthrough adhesive, coating and motion management technologies that significantly improve the performance of their customers’ products. They have provided innovative solutions to demanding aerospace, defense, automotive and industrial customer problems for more than 80 years. Manager, Material & Process Development- Erie, PA- 12852 Summary:This candidate will be responsible for timely, cost-effective development, introduction, and support of new materials and processes into the engineering and plant environment consistent with product performance, cost, and manufacturing capability.  He/she and his/her staff plans, execute and controls projects in order to make advancements consistent with Company objectives.   Responsibilities: Development and introduction of new materials and processes consistent with cost, performance, manufacturing capability, and company objectives Management of technical staff to ensure engineering project completion of new materials and processes that are timely, quality, producible, within budget, and the desired results Provide an environment for the conception and generation of new products/processes/applications or new/improved analysis techniques Concur in plant level decisions regarding Materials Engineering issues. Insure support of the plant in:  solution of special manufacturing difficulties related to elastomer or process, improvements to existing formulae. Preparation of budget and yearly control thereof.  Required Skills: BCH or BSCE required MCH or MSCE  preferred A knowledge of state-of-the-art of technology, products, materials, analytics and/or processes pertinent to the division, and an awareness of emerging industry and Group technology knowledge of industry trends Willingness to travel to internal plants and overseas. 5-8 years experience in a role that included material formulations Green Belt, Leadership Training Ability to act in a Chief Chemist role to review, direct and assess technical decisions is a must. Acted in an elastomer formulator role at some point in their career, having shown an ability to design a material, validate the material, and scale up for production. An understanding of core chemistry principles is a must, with primary emphasis on thermoset materials and adhesives for elastomer to metal bonding.
