Our core values - ethics and integrity, independence, innovation and quality - are the foundation of our company and drive every decision and action we take.If you thrive on challenges and have the ability and talent to be a Timken associate, we currently have an opportunity to join our team.This key role is responsible for the creation, storage, distribution, and security of engineering and manufacturing data for the global manufacturing supply chain for the Bearing and Power Transmission production facilities and to provide global strategic direction to the Businesses regarding the vision and direction of information technologies hardware and operating system platforms. Key deliverables of this position include: 1. Partner with the Information Technology infrastructure group to ensure that the critical corporate manufacturing and engineering applications are available as appropriate for global, 24 X 7 coverage. 2. Effectively communicate with all global manufacturing plant managers/leadership to understand their strategic business requirements and tactical needs to identify, propose, prioritize, develop, and implement Global Manufacturing Systems applications and systems to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of manufacturing and internal supply chains in accordance with prioritized portfolio of projects and capability improvements. 3. Collection, coordination and prioritization of the portfolio of manufacturing IT projects, aligning them with business strategy and plans and quantifying return on investments proposed. 4. Partnering with 3rd party software vendors, technology center and information technology research organizations to develop, design, create, and implement standard processes, applications, and databases that are flexible and scalable to address greenfield plant sites, future acquisitions and divestitures that integrate manufacturing information and data with the entire Corporation, customers, and suppliers. 5. Develop, propose, and implement strategic Corporate manufacturing automation practices and standards that serve the entire global engineering and manufacturing organization. 6. Serve as liaison between manufacturing plants and Information Technology, effectively implementing new systems and technologies that bring the best value to the Businesses in alignment with business strategy, tactics and initiatives. 7. Keeps abreast of new information technology and manufacturing methods and techniques, how our competitors and customers are using them, serve as a consultant to the Businesses.Requirements: Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Computer Science with 8 - 12 years experience. Master's in Mechanical Engineering or Business with 6 - 8 years experience. Desired: Manufacturing or Global Engineering Systems project work where the associate demonstrated leadership and supervisory skills for at least 5 years. Excellent communication and project management skills. Willingness to travel to all global manufacturing locations. Basic understanding of Information Technology hardware, operating platforms, applications, personal computers, and web technology. Principal to specialist level mechanical engineering or computer science work at the Timken Company – creating and/or supporting manufacturing systems, processes or asset control systems to develop an intimate knowledge and understanding of Timken Manufacturing processes, standards, products, and databases.
