Our client, Milton Roy Americas headquartered in Ivyland, PA (www.miltonroy-americas.com) is the world's largest manufacturer of electric and pneumatically driven chemical metering pumps, serving numerous industrial and commercial chemical metering applications – particularly in water treatment, chemical processing and oil & gas markets. Milton Roy Americas, who values and supports engineering excellence and quality, is seeking an exemplary, pro-active engineering professional for a planned re-organization of the engineering department (product design, product support and manufacturing) from a brand focused format to that of an engineering function format. This individual will be the “lynch pin” for this planned reorganization and will be responsible for providing leadership in building a word-class Manufacturing Engineering Department. Working closely with the internal customers of Quality, Supply Chain and Operations, this individual will have a direct and highly visible impact on the overall success of the company. This position is located at the Ivyland, (Philadelphia area) PA headquarters and reports directly to Milton Roy Americas’ Corporate Engineering Manager.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Provide technical support and direction for all products to Milton Roy internal customers: quality, operations, supply chain and sales groups.
· Prioritizes and balances workload for the Manufacturing Engineering Group (including manufacturing process engineering and product support)
· Operate as a hands-on, working manager, initially leading 3-5 engineers (eventually up to as many as 8) who handle manufacturing and product support for 7 different product brands.
· Oversee multiple projects of medium scope and complexity simultaneously while working on his/her own assigned projects.
· Responsible for tracking projects and tasks for group, providing reports and metrics on group status.
· Develops, coaches & mentor’s members of the engineering team and will be responsible for their annual performance appraisals
· Manages external resources as needed
· Collaborates and conceptualizes solutions
· Creates product design data as required (3D models, 2D drawings, Bills of Material, etc.)
· Verifies designs through calculation / analysis.
· Develops test plans and executes testing activities.
QUALIFICATIONS:
· A Bachelor’s degree is required, preferably in Mechanical Engineering or Manufacturing Engineering.
· Requires an individual with 7 -10 years of overall engineering experience in an assembly manufacturing environment within the industrial, automotive or aerospace sector.
· Requires an individual with 2 - 5 years of engineering management and/or leadership of a world-class Design, Manufacturing or Product Support Engineering Team.
· Requires an individual with a high degree of technical engineering proficiency, specifically in manufacturing process engineering.
· Requires an individual who is a true leader with excellent organizational (project management, prioritization of tasks, effective delegation, etc) skills.
· Requires a detailed oriented individual who has a proven track record in root cause identification.
· Requires an individual with 3D CAD Modeling experience along with the hands-on skills required for conducting/directing fabrication of prototypes and for various product testing/prototyping scenarios.
· Requires an individual with broad knowledge and experience in two or more of the following manufacturing processes:
o casting (i.e. sand castings, gray iron, precision)
o machining (i.e. lathes, mills, CNC machining centers, de-burring)
o welding
o plastics (i.e. injection molding)
o sheet metal (i.e. punching, forming, laser cutting)
o finishing (i.e. painting, powder coating, plating, anodizing)
· A candidate with Statistical Process Control knowledge including experience with variable and attribute control charts will be a plus!.
· Proficiency with Outlook, Excel, Word, and Power Point, and knowledge of Access and Internet web tools are expected
· Requires the ability to travel 15 - 20% (with the majority this travel to Milton Roy’s Action, MA facility)
