MANUFACTURING ENGINEER (Specialty Phosphates-Chemical)

  Our client is the world’s leading specialty phosphates company and specializes in the production of products based on phosphoric acid. (Phosphate salts, food additives, hygiene products, phosphorous derivatives and fire retardants. They are seeking for their Lawrence, Kansas facility an experienced:Manufacturing Engineer

 Scope:  This position has primary responsibility for developing and implementing optimal, cost-effective manufacturing processes and methods in accordance with product specifications and quality standards in support of the Phosphate Business Unit.The incumbent will develop, track, and act upon metrics that compare actual to required performance. The incumbent will also focus on process improvements, problem resolution, project management, production and quality commitments, and data based decision-making.  The incumbent has primary responsibility for developing operating and capital budgets and systems to meet or exceed financial commitments. 

Major Responsibilities/Accountabilities: Support and participate in the development of business safety and health policies and programs to hold losses from personal injury or property damage to within Plant goals and to comply with all applicable State and Federal regulations.Monitor day-to-day performance of the operation.  Develop, track and act upon metrics that compare actual to required performance.Must be able to improve manufacturing processes and methods for cost-reduction, quality improvements and efficiency.Must be able to assist Phosphate Business Manager and others in improving a system of production control, standard operation procedures, safety, quality control and training.Work with and support the Phosphate Business Manager(s) in developing systems and the operating and capital budgets.Maintain assets to ensure the business long-term viability. Manage capital and human resources effectively and efficiently ensuring their development to achieve competitive advantage.  Ensure business resources are optimally employed.Understand and follow all applicable Lawrence Quality Systems Procedures and assist in their improvement.

 Experience/Skills Required:Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering required, with emphasis in Chemical preferred.  3 – 5 years plant manufacturing support experience required.  Demonstrated analytical and decision making skills  Knowledge of manufacturing techniques including plant operationsStrong computer/spreadsheet applications skills Excellent communication/interpersonal skills
