MANAGER HYDRAULIC TEST

JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Hydraulic Test Manager oversees and manages the Hydraulic Test Engineering Department. The Hydraulic Test Department is responsible for all aspects of testing from the tendering stages through product shipment and subsequent purging of files and permanent updating of records.  Responsibilities include reviewing test requirements for all Sales Orders in the early stages of the order, issuing test instructions (Test Requirements –04 document), and issuing job-specific test procedures, as required.  Responsibilities include communicating with the Assembly Area Superintendent to assure continuity in scheduling and setup of pumps through test, advising on cost reduction in setups, overseeing ongoing maintenance and replacement of test equipment.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

 

· Plans, organizes, schedules, estimates costs, assigns testing and tendering work.

· Provides leadership to subordinates with particular emphasis on initiative, training, planning, timely completion of assignments, and meeting estimates.

· Provides test tendering assistance to Sales, Marketing, Contracts, Manufacturing, CSS.

· Oversees test practices to ensure compliance with applicable codes.

· Promotes teamwork between test and other areas of the company.

· Promotes and maintains an image of technical excellence and high integrity.

· Ensures maintenance of Test Stand DAS and implements E-test (Electronic witness testing via the Internet through use of video cameras).

· Analyzes and troubleshoots test non-conformances, determines assistance needed to resolve test problems, and assigns rework as required.

· Plans and aids in ongoing test equipment maintenance and upgrade program.

 

SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Support SMX test efforts.

· Adheres to company and department policies, procedures, and standards.

· Supports, cooperates with, and participates in company-wide EHS Management System which includes following all safety, health and environmental policies and procedures.  Supports and cooperates in company-wide Quality Management effort.

· Performs other duties as necessary.

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

· Supervises test engineers and technicians.  Provides for training, coaching and development of test personnel.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

· Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering strongly preferred, equivalent training and experience will be considered.

· Minimum of five years of experience in testing of high-energy centrifugal pumps combined with hydraulic design and/or troubleshooting and sound knowledge of fluid mechanics is required.

· Two years in a management or supervisory role in an engineering department preferred.

· Knowledge of Labview and E-test preferred.

· Vibration analysis experience is required.

· Knowledge of ISO 9001 requirements.

· Good interpersonal, written and verbal communication, analytical skills are required.

· The ability to work a flexible schedule as required due to business demand.
