Lab Manager - Product Design and Development Center

POSITION SUMMARY:



Lab Manager will be responsible for day-to-day control and flow of packaging lab operations.  Position includes project scheduling, processing, testing and documentation.  Required documents include design of molds and prototypes, populating the Lab Management software data base, testing report results and pricing projects.  Strong communication skills are required in expressing project requirements and tests results to Sales Reps / Customers / Co-workers.

  ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Equipment utilization, scheduling and repair. Shipping / receiving. Insuring processes, procedures and policies are known, followed and enforced. Process and equipment improvements. Development and coordination of training for personnel. Effectively interact with other department managers (Materials, Maint, Design, CS). Continuous improvement relative to safety, quality, productivity, and material yield. Ensure accuracy of data used to evaluate packaging recommendations. Provides direction and guidance to ensure the overall design goals are met. Develop and implement procedures which will provide effective communication between all shifts. Use Information Systems to extract and report relevant information. Engage in the efficient use of materials, machines, methods, labor and other available resources.

QUALIFICATIONS: 4 year degree in a technical field preferred, but not required. 2-3 years Lab experience. Good understanding of team based self-managing principles. Leadership abilities, prior management experience a plus. Hands on experience (i.e. working with equipment and troubleshooting process) a plus. Mechanical aptitude preferred. Working knowledge of Cad Cam and Microsoft software a plus. Strong written and verbal communication skills required. Must be highly organized and maintain an organized working environment. Ability to complete tasks consistently and within the defined time frame. Able to interact with all levels of management. Team oriented, able to work well with others and direct subordinates within the Sealed Air Corporate Code of Conduct. Able to evaluate operator skill level and provide training, as needed.
