Instrumentation and Controls Technician
Located in: Manassas, VA 20110 As an Instrumentation and Controls Technician at Micron, you will be responsible for maintaining all of the facilities instrumentation and controls systems. In this position, you will install, calibrate, repair, and operate control devices and associated peripheral equipment and develop and maintain records on testing and calibrations that relate to production processes. You will also install, calibrate, maintain, and repair devices that measure and control level, temperature, pressure, flow, force, power, position, motion, physical properties, chemical composition, and other variables; select, install, and operate instruments, computers, recorder and other peripheral equipment used in measurement and control systems; and provide programming, configuration, and operation for PC-based PLC, DDC, and DCS control systems. Other duties include working on new or remodel projects with construction trades; modifying, upgrading, or replacing existing control and monitoring systems; and performing preventive and corrective maintenance using test equipment. Additionally, you will develop and maintain records on testing and calibrations as they pertain to production processes and related systems or equipment; assist with the collection of engineering data; respond to work orders that involve troubleshooting, repair, or calibration of field devices; and accurately complete documentation (for example: work orders, control room reports, etc.).Qualified candidates will be familiar with the operation of test equipment (DMMs, oscilloscopes, calibrators, etc.) and have an understanding of principles of process variable measurement (temperature, level, flow, pressure etc.). You must also have strong PC skills and good customer service skills. Knowledge of network protocols is a plus. The successful candidate must possess above average knowledge in mechanical HVAC systems, control sequences, and building automation systems.Required Education: You must have a four-year combination of education, training, and experience in the instrumentation field. The following may be used to satisfy this requirement: a registered apprenticeship in an instrumentation, electronics, electrical, and/or mechanical program; AAS or equivalent academic degree in a related technology area (to a maximum of three years); or related work experience. Essential Physical Requirements: Skilled in operating a variety of machine tools. Comply with safety requirements, with or without reasonable accommodation. Reach for and manipulate objects, and or power tools, materials, and/or equipment. Requires occasional to frequent lifting or moving materials weighing up to approximately 50 pounds. Stand, walk or sit for long periods. Stoop, kneel, bend, crouch and/or crawl. Climb, work on ladders scaffolds, other facilities and equipment and/or work on heights.
