Inbound Manager
JOB SCOPE AND DIMENSIONS
JOB SUMMARY
The Inbound Manager is responsible for ensuring that product moves through the Distribution Center timely and efficiently. Maintain a positive and safe work environment. Accountabilities include but not limited to achieving objectives for cost, customer service and leadership development. Document operational procedures and establish standards. Utilize operational and management training to develop team.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Leadership- Create a positive environment that promotes continuous improvement and collaborative effort. Establish clear direction, which leads to effective teamwork. Achieve superior performance through common focus and commitment. Provide timely feedback to team and senior management, which maintains focus on goals. Provide executive leadership development and reporting. Ensure building operates within the budget
Communications- Interact effectively with clients, employees and senior management. Ensure awareness of goals and results. Communicate results and opportunities to management team. Develop methods of keeping associates informed. Effectively communicate upward to avoid surprises.
Systems- Develop an effective testing and training plan in conjunction with the IS team to ensure that documentation and training leads to effective use of WMS. Provide effective use of computers through established procedures, training and maintenance. Maintain strong knowledge of the WMS (PKMS).
Operations- Develop, document and utilize effective methods and procedures to achieve established objectives. Maximize effectiveness of human resources, facilities, equipment and systems. Plan, direct and implement operations and administration to exceed productivity and service goals. Operate in compliance with federal, state, and local statutes. Provide direct supervision of area supervisors. Provide indirect supervision of hourly associates. Coach/mentor executives. Hire hourly and executive team members. Conduct performance appraisals. Ensure adherence to policy and procedure. Implement training/safety programs. Oversee project management.
Labor Management-Lead the efforts of team to achieve established objectives. Apply sound communication and motivational techniques while developing effective programs to reinforce high performance and to address low performance. Celebrate successes of the team and of individuals.
Customer Service- Assist in the establishment of customer service standards for all accounts and communicate standards to all personnel. Establish internal and external reporting of results against identified metrics. Assure that customer accounts receive the required level of operations and administrative support. Maintain appropriate contact with all accounts and respond to requests when required.
Budgeting- Develop and recommend an annual operating budget. Develop and manage a system of controls to ensure that service levels and operating performance goals are met with respect to cost, revenue and profit. Provide consistent reporting of results to clients and management.
Vendors- Establish contracts through RFP process which minimizes costs and maximizes service. Ensure vendors have necessary insurance and financial health to meet requirements. Manage vendors to ensure service levels are being met.
SPECIFIC DUTIES
· Direct staff: select, hire, train, coach, develop and assure performance. Administer discipline and assure morale.
· Understand all functional areas of the WMS system with expertise in the inbound areas to problem solve, make decisions, expedite processes and provide coaching.
· Maintain effective, positive employee relations in the facility to enable the Company to attract retain and motivate highly qualified hourly and salaried employees.
· Assure compliance and consistently administer company policies and procedures.
· Develop and maintain a work environment which promotes: safety, employee inclusion, recognition and effective communication.
· Develop Inbound-operating strategies to manage future growth, improve quality and reduce operating cost.
· Determine staffing level to meet productivity requirements and DC performance expectations.
· Ensure that the staff has proper training, certification, and access to the necessary power equipment to perform their assigned tasks. Also ensure that the equipment is adequately maintained.
· Coach and counsel employees as necessary and ensure timely and effective performance reviews.
· Meet and consult with other management staff within the facility to ensure the optimum performance and efficiency of the whole facility.
· Promote open, honest communication between departments and across functions within the distribution center as well as with internal customers and those outside the distribution center.
· Assure compliance with all safety and environmental standards, policy and regulations.
· Analyze employee statistics for the purpose of setting, maintaining or raising employee performance.
· Accountable for the replenishment to the split case bin and the picking of all full cases including full case picking of customer orders, export orders and inter-company transfers.
· Receive and distribute all goods and packages from supply vendors and courier services.
· Other duties as assigned MIMIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS
Candidates for this job must have 5 years of management experience. Strong interpersonal skills. Organizational and planning skills. Ability to manage conflict and problem solving. Motivational and influencing skills. Strong skills are required in leadership, operations, communication and administration. Related distribution operations and supervisory experience College degree is preferred.
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Office and Warehouse: This job is performed in both an office and warehouse setting. Extensive time must be spent walking on a cement floor in a fast paced, fully operational warehouse to interact with workforce. This includes exposure to noises and moving vehicles such as forklifts. Office work includes use of personal computer, telephone and facilitating meetings.
