Job Description:SUMMARY OF POSITION:The IT Individual is responsible for desktop support to include but not limited to maintaining the LAN and local WAN device operation infrastructure. This includes system upgrades, system documentation, daily administration and problem resolution as well as assisting staff and users in problem resolution, as needed, relating to hardware, software and communications issues. The IT individual will also participate in the design, planning and execution of infrastructure to support new applications and technologies. KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Adhere to safety policies and procedures related to all facets of the job LAN and WAN daily administration, including system stability, integrity and troubleshooting Perform departmental activities per standard operating procedures Hardware and software upgrades to network servers, including operating systems and applications. Rapid deployment of fixes to network devices in response to newly identified security threats. Involvement with software and hardware upgrades, planning and roll out of desktop PC’s. Budget evaluation, recommendation and purchasing for both software and hardware. End user support. Involved with software licensing tracking and purchasing. Network backup integrity and recovery coordination along with disaster preparedness planning Documentation of network systems, operational procedures, network topology, and hardware Security system administratorThe above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by employees in this position. Other duties may be assigned or duties may change based on business needs.LEVEL OF SUPERVISION: Minimum EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: 3 years or more AS/400 operations experience 5 years Novell Netware Strong experience with servers, cabling systems, hubs, and routers Customer service experience requiredEDUCATION/LICENSES/CERTIFICATION/FORMALTRAINING: High School Diploma or GED required Certification from college or technical school preferred Demonstrable experience may be accepted in lieu of credentialsESSENTIAL ABILITIES: Read, write and understand the English language Must be able to read and follow blueprints and schematics Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills Ability to perform typical advanced server and network administration Must demonstrate knowledge in user administration Sense of urgency and self-motivation; ability to work independently Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines Excellent written and oral communication skillsPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Prolonged standing and periodically lifting, stretching and twisting. May be required to lift up to 50 lbs periodically. Hand dexterity and strength. Overtime may be required, including some weekends.
