Human Resource Generalist

Samson, the worldwide leader in high performance cordage is seeking an experienced Human Resource Generalist to provide assistance and supportin employee relations, recruiting/hiring and payroll at our Lafayette, LA facility. 

 

 

 Responsibilities

 

·  Ensure compliance with all local, state and federal labor laws and company polices.

·  Support all human resource activities to include employment, compensation, employee relations, benefits, training and development.

·  Assist with job applicant interviews; review application/resume; evaluate applicant skills, and make recommendations regarding applicant's qualifications through the pre-screening process.

·  Develop and maintain relationship with employment agencies, universities and other recruitment sources.

·  Assist in the preparation and maintenance of company wage structure, job documentation, and job evaluation systems.

·  Complete salary and benefits survey questionnaires.

·  Conduct new employee orientations.

·  Explain benefits to employees; serve as liaison between employees, insurance carriers and company benefits administrator.

·  Recommend, and schedule training and development courses.

·  Provide advice, resolutions,  assistance and follow-up on company policies, procedures, and documentation

·  Champion company initiatives and programs.

·  Prepare, process and distribute payroll.

·  Maintain human resource data bases, computer software systems, and manual filing systems.

·  Recommend operating policy and procedural improvements.

·  Other duties may be assigned to meet business needs.

 

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

 

·  Knowledge of multiple human resource disciplines particularly in federal and state employment and benefit laws.

·  Ability to organize prioritizes tasks, meet deadlines and solve routine problems.

·  Professionalism in dealing with sensitive and confidential information

·  Demonstrated ability to provide excellent customer service, through strong communication and listening skills.

·  Ability to take initiative, analyze data and provide recommendations.

·  Proficient computer skills (ADP/ Ceridian or similar software, Excel, Word,  Outlook

·  Working knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles as they relate to payroll and benefits  

 

Minimum Experience and Training

 

Bachelor's Degree and three to five years of human resource experience, or a combination of education and experience.  PHR certification preferred.  Prior human resource work experience in a manufacturing environment a highly desirable.
