About the Company Signal Metal Industries is a well established, highly diversified, steel fabrication and machining company that manufactures large steel products for various heavy industries throughout the country. We do traditional job shop work and also perform production work for other large manufacturers in the USA. The work environment is fast-paced, furious, and high-energy. You'll be working with a visible and accessible management team. We need several talented individuals to fill the role of Fabrication Inspector for Signal Metal Industries, Inc. Qualified candidates will work directly for the Senior Vice President responsible for quality. This position entails on-the-floor vigorous inspection of weldments ensuring that all company and customer quality requirements are met. Most of our jobs have in-depth inspection plans which include multiple inspection points throughout the building process - managing this process is key. Qualifications

Required

Advanced welding and fabrication skills.

Must have good working knowledge of AWS Section D1.1

Articulates ideas clearly and concisely in a variety of settings, adjusting the message to match the audience.

Has the ability to read and understand detailed mechanical drawings specifically related to dimensioning, layouts, tolerancing, weld sizes, and weld types.

Highly productive with minimal guidance or supervision.

Proven safety record. Takes precautions and preventative measures to ensure a safe working environment.

Preferred

Capable of producing comprehensive documentation.

Easily analyzes and prioritizes information, distilling it to the critical issues and drawing accurate conclusions.

Has excellent attendance and can handle responsibility.

Makes effective use of database, spreadsheet, and word-processing software to prepare statistical and written reports for management.

High School Diploma or equivalent experience.

AWS designation of CWI or CWE not required but would be a plus.
