Global Materials Analyst

PRIMARY FUNCTION:This is a global function which consist of managing Sun's entire supply chain with respect to HDD's such that they achieve continuity of supply, on time delivery (predictability), and L/T velocity for each of Sun's internal manufacturing sites, it's contract manufacturing sites, and its direct customer shipments. This role would not be involved in directly determining the daily build of drives by the VA Supplier (RR Donnelley). Employees performing the role of Strategic Sourcing Buyer 3 (GMA) would be resident at a Sun site(s).ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:1. The GMA role utilizes a multi sourced Hard Drive supply base, and oversees the forecast for all the consumption points along Sun's supply chain such that planned HDD supplier business splits are achieved with reasonable predictability. Responsible for tracking performance for hard disc drive execution in Japan, the United Kingdom, and the United States.2. Prepare presentation materials and financial documents for different drive types, drive suppliers, providing all forecasting figures against actuals. Must be able to read and understand forecasts.3. Attends various Sun meetings as necessary and assume various team roles related to HDD's. 4. Must perform planning and procurement functions. Communicate Quarterly Supply Plan to global locations, working with EM's and Suppliers in validating forecast information in SCOP.5. Work extensively with the Supply Chain in Japan, the UK, and the US to achieve optimum output of material to all SUN service locations.6. Must be able to think strategically about program initiatives and various business situations7. Conduct Daily Production Calls with Suppliers to ensure full demand horizon coverage and resolve gaps.8. At the end of each quarter, typically the final two to three weeks, Sun would require that a minimum of one GMA be present on site each day of the weekend in addition to normal business hours.9. Responsible for maintaining all parts at goal lead time, providing supply/demand analysis to support any required lead time extensions.10. Supply Chain E&O tracking and reporting, including establishment and management of appropriate mitigation plans.11. Must be able to effectively follow escalation process.12. Must be able to maintain a scorecard on each HDD supplier as well as on his or her own GMA activities.13. Manage product inventory goals, and monitor returns in line with Suppliers' agreed to allowance.14. Resolve Accounts Payable issues, invoice discrepancies, and Accounts Receivable issues resulting from vendor sales, and RTV invoicing issues.15. Performs other duties as assigned by RR Donnelley Management.EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university; or 3+ years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Ability to read and interpret documents such as instructions, procedure manuals and contracts. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of suppliers, customers and employees of organization. Must be able to articulate knowledge of an integrated manufacturing system such as Oracle and JD Edwards.
