Geologist

Irving, TXLehigh Hanson is seeking a Geologist for its Irving, TX location.  The position of Geologist is responsible for evaluating existing sites to ensure sufficient economically recoverable reserves are available to meet market demands and ensure that all operations have a sufficient reserve base to meet the needs of the company now and well into the future. Lehigh Hanson is one of the world's largest suppliers of heavy building materials to the construction industry. We produce aggregates (crushed rock, sand and gravel), ready-mixed and precast concrete, asphalt, cement and cement-related materials and a range of building products including concrete pipes, concrete pavers, tiles and clay bricks.  We are part of the HeidelbergCement Group, which employs 70,000 people across five continents and has leading positions in concrete and heavy building products and is the global leader in aggregates. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES and TASKS: 1.   Drill sites and based upon the information recovered have the ability to accurately predict the quantity, quality and location of suitable reserves2.   Identify and understand quality issues with the deposit that may impact sales from the site3.   Conduct the appropriate testing of the material4.   Evaluate geologic information to develop a geologic model that can be used to adequately plan mining operations5.   Locate exploration holes for the thorough evaluation of heritage operations6.   Evaluate existing reserve base in conjunction with the mine planning engineers MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree in Geology or equivalent. Some courses in mine engineering, Licensed Professional Geologist. Three to five years working in or with the building materials industry. Site evaluation and development. Experience dealing with local, state and federal agencies that have regulatory authority over mining. Have the ability to present mine plans at public hearings for zoning or other regulatory processes. Proficient in the use of Auto-Cad or other computer design program.
