GENERAL MANAGER-MANUFACTURING
POSITION SUMMARY
Responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating the work activities and resources necessary for manufacturing products in accordance with cost, quality, and quantity specifications.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
* Direct and coordinate production, processing, distribution, and marketing activities of one or more manufacturing facilities. Direct facility operations to achieve the lowest operating costs while maintaining high standards in safety and quality performance in order to achieve sales goals.
* Establish production and manufacturing methods and measures to ensure high quality work products and a safe working environment, while maintaining processes that improve work output within budget requirements.
* Develop budgets and approve expenditures for supplies, materials, and human resources, ensuring that materials, labor and equipment are used efficiently to meet production targets.
* Direct the development and implementation of operating and manufacturing standards and goals on a unit by unit basis in support of the Company’s business plan.
* Review processing schedules and production orders to make decisions concerning inventory requirements, staffing requirements, work procedures, and duty assignments, considering budgetary limitations and time constraints. Manage workloads and capacity control to ensure production and shipping schedules are met.
* Review operations and confer with technical or administrative staff to resolve production or processing problems.
* Initiate and coordinate inventory and cost control programs.
* Prepare, interpret and maintain operational reports and communicate the data to management personnel.
* Set and monitor product standards, examining samples of raw products or directing testing during processing, to ensure finished products are of prescribed quality.
* Develop and implement production tracking and quality control systems, analyzing production, quality control, maintenance, and other operational reports, to detect production problems.
* Review plans and confer with research and support staff to develop new products and processes.
* Direct, suggest and implement employee programs which will increase employee morale and reduce turnover in all areas of the operations.
* Coordinate and recommend procedures for facility and equipment maintenance or modification, including the replacement of machines. Ensure equipment is inspected frequently and malfunctions or deficiencies are corrected in a timely manner.
* Maintain current knowledge of the quality control field, relying on current literature pertaining to materials use, technological advances, and statistical studies.
* Ensure manufacturing operations are in compliance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations and Company policy. Monitor impending legislation and take appropriate action as necessary.
* Responsible for implementation and the compliance of all EHS requirements and the safety of all employees.
* Oversee the selection and development of staff. Interview, hire, train, counsel and evaluate the performance of, and when necessary, discipline and/or discharge personnel.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's Degree (four year college or university) and/or four to ten years related experience
