FIELD SALES ENGINEER

IDEC Corporation located in Sunnyvale, CA is an established manufacturer/distributor of Industrial Automation Components. Our product line includes relays, sockets, switches, sensors, PLC’s, terminal blocks, and operator interface components. At IDEC, our employees are our most important asset, and we are currently looking for a Field Sales Engineer to join our sales team in the Central region.

This position covers Southern Ohio, Indiana and Kentucky where the candidate will be responsible for the development of prospects and the maintenance of existing clients to sell our extensive line of products, supplies, or services, all of which will require your sales skills and professional engineering knowledge.

You will also be responsible for:
• Territorial sales forecasts and maintaining customer reports.
• Making field sales calls on existing and prospective customers.
• Increasing the level of OEM business, through engineering and purchasing contacts.
• Maintaining customer contact reports for service and follow-up.
• Conducting training sessions with distributors.
• Handling sales promotions, and preparing quotes for special price competition.
• Working with customer engineering staff to have IDEC products specified.
• Maintaining price realizing by working with the distributors to meet their contact levels.

Self-motivated and self-disciplined, you will be working out of your own home office. You will be responsible for your own travel schedule - noting that some overnight travel may be required. Mostly local driving, but estimate 30-40% travel time away from home a month.

Qualified candidates must have the ability and initiative, plus a proven track record of closing the sale! Electrical Engineering Degree preferred, plus 2 years sales experience preferred selling PLC and Touch Screens and operator interface components. Excellent verbal and written communications skills are critical for this customer-interface position, plus proficiency with Windows, Excel, Word, & PowerPoint software.
