FIELD SERVICE TECHNICIAN

We are currently seeking a Field Service Technician to join our team in Birmingham, AL.
Job Description:
· Represents the company in a customer support role and is responsible for customer satisfaction.
· Provide operation/maintenance instructions to customers. Set up and utilize specialized test and diagnostic equipment to isolate malfunctions. Replace defective modules/components as appropriate. Conduct instrument acceptance testing following established procedures
· Perform modifications and field changes to installed instruments. Perform preventative maintenance.
· Work with customer via telephone to identify operations/technical problems. Travels to local sites by car to repair and maintain equipment at the customer site. Travels by air to remote customer sites and company locations for training and other meetings.
· Conduct investigations to evaluate operational malfunctions of equipment and analyze and interpret accumulated data and observations to determine methods for eliminating or reducing problems. Prepare reports on failures for engineering analysis.
· Support marketing, as required, to assess customer requirements, provide technical support for demonstrations, etc.
· Attends training courses domestically and in Europe, as required, to become familiar with a wide range of instruments supported by the company. May develop and conduct training as needed.
· Respond to all customer service inquiries and follow-up with proper and concise written records or reports to proper authorities.
· Perform other related duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:
· Requires a 2-year technical degree or equivalent technical/military training and over 5 years of related experience.
· Field service or technical experience with medical instruments is a plus.
· Required to work out of their home office with extensive travel locally, domestically and at times internationally.
· Will work independently and sometimes in isolated conditions.
· Individual must be a self-starter and strong technical problem-solver committed to providing cost-effective support to the customer.
· Must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills and a very thorough understanding of electronics, mechanisms, drawings, schematics and blueprints.
