Environmental & Safety Manager

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Environmental & Safety Manager.  This is an immediate direct hire role, offering a salary of $72,000 to $90,000. This is a full time position with overtime worked as required, and occasional travel as necessary.

 

The responsibilities of this role include the following:Plan, direct, and monitor the quality, direction, and effectiveness of safety and environmental programs, including air, water, and hazardous waste, to achieve site, divisional and corporate objectives.Stay abreast of local, state, and federal laws and regulations regarding OSHA/EPA and establish regulatory testing, reporting, and compliance measures. Act as the authorized company representative in communication with corporate, state, and federal agencies regarding safety and environmental issues.Develop and implement procedures, programs, and policies to comply with state and federal regulatory requirements and systematically and continuously improve the safety, health, environment, and security of employees at the site.Test safety equipment, review safety of upcoming new or modified equipment or processes and develop methods and criteria for audit conformance to established procedures, programs and policies.Track and analyze daily departmental safety performance and audit data for the site. Compile analyses, and develop reports on monthly safety performance data for management.Perform all daily hazardous waste management operations regarding waste generated. Maintain records in support of waste management and prepare all reports as required by law.Conduct training classes for managers and employees on auditing techniques and how to conduct incident investigations for root cause analysis. Assist investigation team members with incident investigations as needed.Ensure that safety standards and requirements are understood and complied with by all team members.

Job Requirements and Qualifications:Bachelors degree in Chemical Engineering or Chemistry required5 years of health, safety, and environmental experienceKnowledge of local, state, and federal regulations. 40 hours of certified HazMat training and 24 hours of bi-annual hazardous waste operations training is required.Training in the medical field, including emergency procedures, diagnostics, medications and rehabilitation is a plus.Excellent organizational, project management, interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
