James Hardie is an Equal Opportunity Employer Environmental Health and Safety Manager Position Description:As our EH&S Manager you will be tasked with many challenging opportunities that will contribute to the overall growth of the business. This is an exciting time for James Hardie and you could play a large part by providing expertise and counseling for all safety related issues affecting plant operations. You'll be based out of Peru, IL at our manufacturing facility and you will report directly to the Plant Manager. This truly is a position where you can determine your own career success. What's Next? Come Home to Hardie!RESPONSIBILITIES: Provides direction to the site on improvement strategies and feedback on safety performance to the plant management team and Supervisors on an on-going basis; Your coaching and counseling skills will help managers develop skills to improve crews and managers engagement in the safety process; You can play a dramatic role in impacting our business by managing and facilitating the plants safety education program; Your excellent communication skills and your ability to build relationships will help promote the overall safety awareness of the facility; and Your knowledge of environmental programs will enable you to ensure compliance with State and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) regulatory requirements.QUALIFICATIONS : Ability to understand, comply with and communicate state or federal safety and health OSHA regulations and environmental regulations (EPA). Knowledge and ability to update safety policies and procedures manuals. Ability to coach personnel on how to perform audits of job sites, manufacturing, and plant operations. Ability to assist with safety-related training as needed. Ability to coach personnel on how to thoroughly investigate accidents and development of effective corrective action recommendations. Ability to manage the flow of all required reports and documentation. Demonstrated intermediate skills with the standard features of various personal computer word processing and spreadsheet software (Microsoft Word and Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Internet, and other proprietary software).EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE : Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Engineering, or Industrial Hygiene. Five or more years of manufacturing experience working as an EH&S professional.
