Environmental Health & Safety Manager

One of the nation’s top plastics manufacturers in Richmond, Virginia is seeking to hire a Corporate Environmental Health & Safety Manager.

 

Minimum Requirements:

 Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental health or a related discipline plus 8 years of HSE experience;5-7 years of management experience;Familiar with OSHA, EPA, DOT and FDA regulations;Must be able to travel to out of state work sites;Manufacturing background;Must posses good writing skills and communicate effectively, both orally and in writing;Must be able to communicate with customer contacts; andMust be a self-starter and able to work independently.

 

 

Responsibilities:

 Participates as a key member of the Corporate Safety Committee;Evaluates associates exposures to chemical and physical hazards using a variety of instrumentation.  Interprets results and implements control measures;Trains workforce on a wide variety of occupational health, safety and environmental topics;Collects data, performs calculations and generates reports on injury/illness experience, waste generation, waste minimization and air emissions to local, state and federal agencies;Performs work-site risk factor analysis.  Establishes specifications and criteria for sound processes and procedures.  Works with multiple-site Management to implement these criteria into good work practices;Revises emergency, contingency and containment plans for pollution control to reflect changes in operations, conditions and materials employed; andAudits customers, facilities and operations relative to regulatory compliance.
