Statement of Job: Responsibilities include TS / ISO QA / Environmental Health and Safety Systems, Training, Internal Audits, Workers Compensation Claims, Controlling Accident Frequency and Severity, FMLA, Medical Records, Return to Work Programs, Incident and Accident Investigations, IMDS and Legal and Other.



 

 

Major Duties

:



 

Daily/Ensures that:



 

·

Job hazard assessment with relation to Accident Frequency and Severity of occupational injuries

 

·

Provides direction and support on issues such as machine safeguarding, material handling and electrical safety

 

·

Develops and maintains EHS instructions and policies

 

·

Workers compensation claims reporting, review and/or case management by direction of carrier

 

·

Maintains "Right to Know" binder, including material safety data sheets, warning labels, and blood borne pathogen’s

 

·

To be knowledgeable of and comply with company TS / ISO Quality / EMS work instructions and procedures when auditing

 

·

Completion of audit reports, findings and summaries

 

 

As Needed

:



 

·

Conduct Environmental Health and Safety related training

 

·

Accompany local, state and federal representatives during inspections

 

·

Champion the company safety committee

 

·

Represent company in any legal compensation hearings / cases

 

·

Backup to Payroll

 

·

Participate with Process Engineering Responsibilities

 

·

Other duties as directed by supervisor.

 

 

Job Specifications:



 

Experience:

 



 

·

1-2 years safety related experience

 

 

Knowledge and Skills

:



 

·

A working knowledge of ADA, FMLA, Workers Compensation, OSHA, MIOSHA, EPA, MDEQ, Union as well as Local Legal and Other Regulations in applicable residing states.

 

·

The ability to read and understand material safety data sheets

 

·

The ability to meet deadlines efficiently and effectively

 

·

Must have the ability to work with and train others.

 

 

Physical Requirements

:



 

·

The ability to stand for long periods of time

 

·

Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines

 

·

Involves intermittent travel between plants

 

·

Available to work irregular hours

 

 

Relationships

 

:

 

·

Reports to VP of Engineering and Quality.

 

·

Consults with appropriate for direction to ensure safety violations are documented and proper disciplinary actions are taken

 

·

Oversees Safety Committee

 

·

Works with foreperson to ensure safety policies and procedures are maintained

 

·

Interact with all levels of employees

 

·

Works with compensation carrier and clinic personnel
