Environmental Engineer - Solid Waste, Environmental Control
Provide SOLID WASTE compliance assistance to operating facilities. Participate on or lead multi-disciplinary teams charged with securing environmental permits and authorizations; become involved with negotiations with environmental agencies. Direct contractors on investigation and permitting projects involving solid and hazardous waste. Coordinate efforts of engineering, operations, and legal staff on project teams. Assist with development of compliance plans. Evaluate new regulations and prepare summaries with interpretations; help operations develop plans and practices to achieve compliance with new rules. Opportunity to participate on industry trade association committees.
Familiarity with RCRA regulations and state equivalents is a must. Please provide specific experience on permit activity including type of permit action (corrective action, landfill, treatment unit, etc), complexity of permit (variances, groundwater modeling, etc), and any other indication of solid waste management expertise, including regulatory jurisdictions of familiarity.
Located in Pittsburgh; report to director, Environmental Control. Must be willing to travel throughout North America.
Job Requirements:
Minimum BS degree in engineering (preferably environmental, chemical, or civil) or related technical degree, 2-5 years of relevant experience in manufacturing (preferably in steel, metals, or allied industry).
