Engineering Technician/Illustrator

POSITION:  ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN/ILLUSTRATOR           DEPT:  ENGINEERING 



 

SCOPE OF FUNCTION:

 

Provide technical assistance to Engineering, Sales, Customer Service and Technical

Support with documentation and illustration of components, assemblies, products, and

customer projects.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

1.   Assist Engineering in design and documentation of existing and new products.

 

2.   Create project specific shop drawings as required for Sales and Dealers.

 

3.   Assist Sales and Customer Service in documentation of product technical drawings

      and descriptions.

 

4.   Creates and maintains fabrication, part, and assembly drawings; custom project

      drawings, and illustrations by free-hand sketch, mechanical, and computer-aided

      drawing techniques.

 

5.   Assists Engineering in generating and distributing Engineering Change Orders.

 

6.   Assists Customer Service and Technical Support in creating and illustrating Product

      Service Bulletins, Installation Instructions, and Troubleshooting Instructions.

 

7.   Assists Sales and Marketing in developing and updating Product literature & detailed

      drawings.

 

8.   Performs other duties and responsibilities as requested by the Engineering Manager.

   

ACCOUNTABILITY:

 

Working under general supervision, is accountable for assisting in documentation of

design of existing and new products.  Cooperates with Sales, Marketing, Customer

Service, and Technical Support in creating product literature.

 

SKILLS, EDUCATION, AND EXPERIENCE:

 

Requires above average knowledge and understanding of mechanical concepts, and

must be able to communicate verbally, in written form, and graphically (drawing creation).

College level study of 2 – 4 years, or 4 – 6 years of practical experience. 

Computer aided design (AutoCAD) experience required; 3D solids modeling (Solidworks)

experience desirable.

   PURPOSE:      Communicate design details, marketing concepts, technical support,

                                   and provide detailed product knowledge.

 

   EXTERNAL:      Dealers and Vendors

   PURPOSE:      Shop drawing requests, submittals, and approval.

 

PLANNING:

 

Participates in the daily and weekly scheduling of engineering, sales, manufacturing, and

dealer requested graphical documentation.
