Engineering Technician
MSA (Mine Safety Appliances Company) is the global leader in the development, manufacture, and supply of sophisticated safety products, instruments, and services that protect people’s health, safety, and the environment. Our company has an immediate need for an Engineering Technician at our Cranberry Township facility.
Description of duties and responsibilities:
· Initiate and coordinate engineering changes as needed to implement product certifications, and drive implementation efforts with associates from other functional areas.
· Prepare and submit change requests for agencies (revise documents, correspondence, etc).
· Prepare signed and stamped drawings and samples, as needed, for submittals to agencies.
· Monitor and coordinate status of agency submittals through department infrastructure and Approvals/Standards Compliance engineers, and communicate status to engineers, etc.
· Maintain product technical files and department infrastructure (databases, network storage, etc)
· Assist Approvals/Standards Compliance engineers in research, investigations, testing, document creation, etc as requested.
· Support internal and external customers’ requests for information (documents, status of approvals, etc) as requested.
· Assist in agency audits, as needed
Special knowledge, skills and abilities required:
· Good written and verbal communication skills
· Demonstrated ability to mange multiple projects/tasks
· Use of MS Windows, Excel, Word and LotusNotes
· Ability to perform complex tasks/assignments using independent judgment and with limited supervision
· Good documentation skills and attention to detail
· Ability to function and contribute in a team environment
Preferred:
· Use of SAP, Adobe Acrobat or MS Access
Education and experience required:
· Associates degree in engineering technology, electronics or related discipline
· 2 years’ experience with gas detection products and/or electronics
Preferred:
· 3 – 5 years’ experience with gas detection products and/or electronics
