Engineering Director

Summary

SENS, a fast-growing technology leader in the power conversion products industry, is seeking a dynamic Director of Engineering to lead the company's engineering department and strategic product development program.

Position descriptionDirect multi-discipline engineering department to achieve on-schedule design and delivery of innovative power conversion products, systems and software.  Disciplines include microprocessor-based and analog hardware, embedded control software, PC/web-based utility software, mechanical design, data communications, and engineering of complete systems.Lead company-wide strategic product development efforts, ensuring that products meet customer requirements and are designed for manufacturability, quality, and serviceability.  Improve product development processes and tools to reflect the best practices in the industry, especially in software development.Develop and recruit the best engineering team in our industry, complementing with outside consulting resources as necessary.Play a key role in setting company direction and policy as a core member of the senior leadership team.Develop and manage engineering budget in excess of $1 million.Negotiate and manage cooperative engineering projects with 3rd party partners, including key worldwide OEMs, strategic partners, and contractors.

Requirements6+ years experience leading hardware and software product development teams in the industrial control or power conversion industry.  10+ years overall engineering experience.Excellent leader with a sense of urgency and proven ability to lead and motivate a diverse team of high performing engineers and support staff, yet still willing to contribute directly as needed.Proven success at delivering development projects on time and within budget.Strong team player who will ensure that the engineering team is closely aligned with other functional areas.Experience with Lean manufacturing/product development highly beneficial.Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science required.  Masters degree highly desirable.
