Engineer, Software Testing

We are currently seeking an experienced Software Test Engineer to develop, plan and test product software to ensure compliance to the specification and requirements on target hardware and systems.

 

The successful applicant will be responsible for testing and evaluating Xantrex Technologies hardware and firmware products, preparing high quality written test plans and reporting results during new product development. The position will also involve development of automated test infrastructure for the Software Test and Development groups.

 

Duties/Responsibilities:Develop and execute test plans to ensure the product adheres to the specifications and quality requirementsDesign, write, and review test cases that include expected results/behaviorDevelop test cases (automated and manual) for product and system functionalities Execute test cases (automated and manual), evaluate testing results, report and manage defects through product test cyclesDevelop automated tests and create test tools using programming and scripting languagesDesign, configure and install test equipmentRegularly assess progress and prepare test status reports for managementSupport software development in debugging and recreating issues, isolate root cause of issues moving onto resolution of the issuesContribute to project planning (e.g. schedules, equipment needs/costs, strategy, and performance objectives)

 

Qualifications:Diploma in electrical engineering, computer science or other technical degreeExperience with embedded systems, microprocessors, and digital signal processorsExperience should include writing test plans, writing test cases/scripts/procedures, and executing testsExperience with use of defect tracking and configuration management toolsExperience with automated testing toolsExperience with interfacing PCs to test equipment via USB, Ethernet, or GPIBExperience with software engineering practices Experience with the use of an oscilloscope, logic analyzer, and other test equipment Experience with manual and automated testing of embedded systemsExperience with any of the following (LABView, C, TCP/IP, Modbus, and Python or other scripting languages)Familiarity with power electronics an asset Knowledge of sound testing methodologies and practicesAbility to self manage time and tasks effectively while being detail orientatedTeam player, able to work well with othersExcellent written and verbal communication skillsSelf motivated
