Electronics/ Electrical Controls Technician

Gerdau Ameristeel Knoxville Mill has an immediate opening for an Electronics/ Electrical Controls Technician. The individual in this position will be responsible for performing all operations required to conceptualize, document, construct, install, modify, calibrate, troubleshoot, and repair electrical/ electronic, control, information and HMI systems. Additionally, the candidate must possess the aptitude to perform all operations required to maintain and repair mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems to support the steel production operation. Core competencies include: AC/DC drives and motors, ABB and Allen Bradley control systems, RIO/ control and Ethernet networks and Database and info-tech systems.

The ideal candidate will have an Associateâ€™s Degree in electrical/electronics or a related technical field or must possess verifiable formal training in electricity, electronics, electrical theory, digital controls and programming - The equivalent to high school plus two years technical college education (Military pipeline, AS, AAS). This position requires an understanding of advanced mathematical principles in addition to strong troubleshooting skills and thorough knowledge of electrical/ electronic concepts. Five years of experience trouble shooting electrical and electronic systems is desired. The candidate should have experience leading complex technical projects from conception through to implementation, commissioning and maintenance phases.
