We currently have an opportunity for an experienced Systems Engineer in our Specialty Printer Solutions business unit located in Warwick, RI.
Responsibility as the technical lead for cross-functional teams and the development of new Zebra product, including responsibility for Project Management and coordinating technology roadmaps with Product Management as required. The programs typically have a duration of one year (+) and have a major impact on future revenue and market presence
Responsibilities:
1. Technical lead for multiple cross-functional and cross-site teams.
2. Follow the new product development process; define and manage technical risks; assist in defining the Engineering activities schedule and help ensure adherence to it.
3. Define product and sub-systems functional requirements, interfaces and parametric budgets.
4. Work with Product Management to forecast technology progression.
5. Use sound systems engineering and design practices to ensure that robust design techniques are appropriately used.
6. Define explicit linkages to customer and market requirements, and conduct competitiveness and assessment of design choices. Define options around concept designs and conduct analyses in order to select the best combinations of concepts.
7. Develop use cases, theory of operation and conduct technology assessments and make recommendations.
8. Develop functional and parametric relationships in the use and operation of the product.
9. Define test strategies and develop test designs for system testing.
10. Ensure that product design goals of form, fit and function are met. Ensure that business goals of the program are met.
11. Collaborate and assist teams in developing system design specifications. Ensure that appropriate technical knowledge is documented through the development process facilitating coordinated efforts between disciplines (i.e.: free exchange of firmware and electrical development requirements.)
12. Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- BSEE required
- 8 years experience in the design and development of new electromechanical and digital products including both firmware and hardware.
- 2 years experience in role as a project leads or project manager using Microsoft Project.
- Knowledge of thermal printing systems is desirable.
- Must have an understanding of engineering disciplines to include: mechanical, system, software and electrical engineering.
- Must be familiar with functions of Manufacturing, Product Management, Quality Assurance and Financial Analysis.
- Able to collaborate and communicate with team members and others at a variety of different levels effectively
- Strong organizational skills.
