Electrical Engineer

Purpose of the rolePerforms a variety of engineering work in designing, planning and overseeing manufacture, construction, installation, operation, and maintenance of electric or electronic components, equipment, systems, facilities, and machinery used in generation, transmission, distribution, and utilization of electrical energy for domestic, commercial, and industrial consumption. Works closely with other engineering disciplines in the development and application of robotics to increase production quality, efficiency, or volume.

 

 Core Accountabilities

·          Initiate and oversee engineering studies and projects.

·          Maintenance and administration of Wonder Ware software systems.

·          Assist in troubleshooting electrical, electronic and computer problems on equipment.

·          Develop procedures to assist in troubleshooting/repair of electrical systems

·          Recommend preventative maintenance on equipment.

·          Provide specific training on electrical maintenance and troubleshooting.

·          Become the Plant Administrator of the Electrical Safety Program.

·          Maintain AutoCAD drawings, equipment manuals, and software.

·          Maintain Backup copies of all Control system and PLC programs.

·          Ensure work order completion and preventative maintenance effectiveness.

·          Work with Maintenance Planners on special electrical jobs.

·          Work with Engineering Staff / Plant Staff to set and meet Plant goals and objectives

·          Work with Corporate Technical Staff on special projects.

·          Work with outside technical services on special projects.

·          Work with Purchasing Manager to procure critical electrical parts.

·          Recommend new projects and cost reductions.

·          Help monitor and control plant maintenance budget.

·          Participate in the reduction of plant equipment downtime and plan corrective actions.

·          Participate in team meetings with hourly and salaried personnel.

·          Become a resource for hourly and salaried teams.

·          Participate on the Maintenance Hiring team.

·          Participate on the Maintenance Natural Management team.

  Supervisory Responsibilities

No supervisory responsibilities, but may provide incidental guidance in others.

 

Required Qualifications

BS degree in Electrical Engineering or similar discipline.  Three to five years minimum plant experience, preferably in the Maintenance/Engineering areas in the aluminum manufacturing industry.  Prefer some experience with molten metal furnaces.  Understand role of maintenance/engineering with respect to plant’s long term goals.  Must have a business aptitude and possess leadership qualities.  Must be able to function within a team framework.  Experience and comfort in making group presentations.  Good technical skills with equipment; i.e., motors, pumps, mechanical systems, etc.

 

 Physical Demands

While performing the work of this role, the employee is regularly required to sit.  The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the tasks.  Travel will be necessary.
