ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH & SAFETY MANAGER

American Railcar Industries (ARI), a manufacturer of rail freight cars and railcar components has an immediate opening at their Headquarters office in historic St. Charles, Missouri for an experienced EHS Manager.  ARI has manufacturing operations in Southeast Missouri and Northeast Arkansas.

 

Individual will manage safety and environmental programs, policies and procedures, as well as audit manufacturing locations to insure they maintain compliance with Federal, State, and Local regulatory programs.

 

Responsibilities of this position include:

 Design and direct a program to reduce accidents, occupational illnesses, and exposure to long-term health hazards through safety-training of all managers, planned inspections, skill training, first-aid care, emergency preparedness, proper job instruction, new employee indoctrination, physical protection, planned job observation,  job analysis/procedures, disposal procedures, and protective equipment. Maintain compliance with government regulatory agencies.Provide counsel and advice regarding safety, fire prevention and security requirements, and compliance with codes and standards for new facilities.Develop and administer workers compensation policies and procedures within Company, Federal, State and local regulations as applicable, review and analyze claims to assure policies and procedures are followed.

 

 

Candidates should have a Bachelor’s degree in industrial safety, or related degree with equivalent knowledge in industrial safety and security.  A thorough knowledge of OSHA regulations and other State and Federal regulations concerning safety and security including worker’s compensation is required.

 

Candidates must have manufacturing plant experience and be willing to travel 60% of the time to gain ARI manufacturing experience.
