The Environmental Coordinator is responsible for developing, coordinating, and maintaining Environmental programs for a single or multiple plant locations under general supervision. The Environmental Coordinator plans, develops and implements environmental processes and programs as well as coordinates the daily environmental activities of the Menlo Park & Redwood City, California sites, to prevent and correct unsound conditions, or Environmental activities. This position provides environmental compliance advice to site leadership and employees to ensure compliance with local, state and federal Environmental regulations and Tyco Environmental guidelines and policies. • Develop, implement and manage environmental processes and programs to prevent or correct unsound conditions and to maintain compliance with local, state and federal regulations, BAAQMD, SWRCB, POTW, Cal EPA - HSC, EPPCRA, EPA - RCRA/SARA, DOT. • Develop and maintain all records necessary to comply with local, state and federal laws and regulations, including preparation of reports to document compliance activities and maintenance of environmental records. • Develop, coordinate and maintain the following environmental compliance programs; Air Emissions, Industrial Wastewater, Storm Water, Hazardous Materials, Hazardous Waste, Solid Waste - Recycling. • Provide day to day coordination and oversight of site environmental operations to ensure safe and compliant operations. • Provide Environmental advice and support to site leadership and employees to ensure compliance with regulatory and Tyco requirements. • Interface with Hazardous Waste Vendor (s) and facility generators to ensure proper waste management for the site. • Conduct monitoring and sampling activities, Industrial Hygiene experience a plus. • Conduct incident investigations, perform corrective actions, develop best management practices, and preventative action plans. • Prepare new permit applications and complete monthly, annual, bi-annual environmental regulatory reports. • Maintain documentation required by BAAQMD, SWRCB, POTW, Cal EPA-HSC, EPA-RCRA/SARA, EPPCRA, DOT, and company policies and procedures. • Ensure all required reports are submitted in a timely manner. • Provide account fiscal management assistance for Purchase Orders, Permit Fees, Environmental Tax Fees, Laboratory and Contractor Services. • Organize Environmental audits and use the information to drive improvement of the process. • Act as the liaison with outside regulatory agencies and organizations. Lead regulatory inspections and ensure corrective action completion. • Prompt response to all site environmental emergencies as needed. • Plan, conduct and coordinate necessary Environmental training for site employees. • Provide updates and routine communications to site operations for Environmental matters. • Track emerging regulatory requirements for potential impact to the site. • Participate in the review of new projects and research initiatives on the site to ensure proper implementation from an Environmental perspective. • Provide project oversight, Project Management experience a plus. • Examine machinery and equipment to determine if all environmental engineering controls are functioning properly. • Lead teams of employees to determine existing or potential environmental hazards and needed corrective or preventative measures. Ensure measures have been implemented and are effective. • Review Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) for environmental, health & safety considerations; participate in MSDS updates and new MSDS development. • Coordinate with vendors for environmental services (Consultants, Contractors, Laboratories, etc.). management. Work Conditions: Flexible workweek, hours may vary. Extended hours may be required based on business needs. General work area is manufacturing, research and development environment. Education: This position requires a BS/BA or equivalent experience in Environmental Science, Physical Science, Environmental Engineering, or Industrial Technology and at least 3-5 years of experience implementing environmental programs. Preferred candidate with certifications (e.g., REA, CHMM, CIH) and experience in ISO 9000 and ISO 14001 systems.
