ENGINEERING MANAGER
Genie Industries is a $2.3 billion (revenue) division of Terex Corporation. SPECIFIC & ESSENTIAL DUTIES: • Demonstrate leadership and the ability to motivate teamwork across functional disciplines. Work closely with engineering, operations, and product management teams to establish specific objectives for all projects. • Organize engineering project teams to accomplish goals effectively and recommend recruitment or assignment of engineering personnel as required to: • Initiate, Plan, Execute, Monitor, Control, and Close projects within a portfolio of projects and priorities using appropriate company processes. • Establish and maintain technical and functional expertise on engineering requirements for all projects. • Develop and successfully execute a product/component qualification plans based on approved product specifications. • Champion cross-functional communications in quality management, risk management, and procurement management. • Prepare interim and completion project reports using appropriate company processes. • Monitor the progress of all engineering projects, confer with delegated Project Engineers, and review project reports to see that projects are progressing according to schedule and within budgetary guidelines to: • Provide technical guidance and ensure sound engineering practices through appropriate Genie Engineering Standards and Practices. • Develop engineering drawings, BOM, certifications, and standards in accordance with specified objectives. • Recommend design/program changes that will result in the most economical cost of production and manufacturing efficiency. • Provide ECN implementation support as needed. • Ensure that project implementation and other prescribed activities are carried out in accordance with specified objectives. • Supervise and develop the activities and abilities of a project engineering team to: • Grow the capability of the engineering organization. Specifically, the Manager should increase Genie's ability to consistently design, develop, and implement successful new products and improvements. • Develop plans to meet future product technology needs and integrate significant design improvements. • Maintain awareness of applicable new technology and regulatory requirements. • Establish and sustain long-term human resource/skill requirements for the engineering teams. • Keep abreast of new developments in the engineering field. • Maintain conformity with company rules and regulations within subordinate reporting structure. EDUCATION/TRAINING: • Bachelor's degree in related field or appropriate combination of education and experience. Continuing education expected to maintain currency. EXPERIENCE: • 8-12 years of progressive, professional experience. • 3 or more years experience in a project leadership role. • General knowledge of Lean Manufacturing or Terex Operating System SKILLS: • Diversified duties and recognition, analysis and resolution of complex problems require thorough knowledge of specialized field and assigned area. • Exercises ingenuity and implements innovative concepts. • Has latitude to take independent actions and make decisions to resolve complex problems and accomplish objectives. • Interacts internally and with external groups, including customers, on matters that involve negotiating, influencing decisions and obtaining approvals. • Supervisory position encompasses similar level of responsibility with primary emphasis on managing human and physical resources and performing related duties. • Experience in life-cycle cost management. • Must be able to interact with management, personnel from other departments, and vendors regularly. • Must be an agent of change and have a professional demeanor. • Ability to direct other engineering team members required. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: • Sedentary involves constant sitting. Must be able to lift 10 pounds occasionally, frequent lifting of 1-2 pounds TRAVEL: • Must be able to travel on an occasional basis.
