We have an EXCELLENT TRAINING & DEVELOPMENT OPPORTUNITY for an enthusiastic, high-potential individual looking to build a career and achieve advancement in Distribution Management. This entry-level management training position will be located out of our Richmond, VA Distribution Center.
The Distribution Center Manager Trainee position is responsible for learning and performing all aspects of the duties of the Manager in the assigned geographic location. This candidate will be assigned to various departments in the distribution center during the training period. Following the successful completion of the management training period, the candidate will be assigned a management position in a distribution center within the United States.
This position will report to the Manager of Training and Recruitment and work closely with Distribution Center Management to gain exposure to all aspects of distribution operations. The candidate will work with various employees through the supply chain network, to include distribution, customer service, traffic, and purchasing to learn operational procedures. In addition, this candidate will be exposed to other areas of the company such as sales, marketing and human resources, to gain an in-depth working knowledge of company operations.
This is an approximate twelve-month assignment, designed to provide a broad base of knowledge in preparation for application for advancement within the company.
In this position, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following duties:
* Learn and apply company operations, policies, and procedures within the distribution network.
* Work with Manager of Training and Recruitment as well as assigned mentor and Region Operations Manager to achieve defined performance goals.
* Successfully complete the manager in training program within the established time frames.
* Gain exposure with the hiring, training, and evaluation practices, while working productively with a high sense of professionalism, urgency, and orientation towards positive customer service.
* Gain exposure to managing expenses, and operating ratios, as well as monitoring and managing product inventory, order entry, pricing policies, shipping & delivery logistics, and credit policies.
* Assist distribution center management and the Sales team, to achieve sales and profit objectives by developing and executing consultative sales strategies for existing accounts, while promoting brand awareness and value selling to new business opportunities.
* Assist distribution center management to promote a sales-oriented environment in the location by communicating sales goals, strategies, and measurements, in addition to attending training on sales methodology and customer service.
* All other duties as assigned by the DC management team.

The successful candidate will possess the following qualifications:
* Bachelor’s Degree in a related discipline, such as Supply Chain, Business Administration, Sales, or Marketing is required.
* At least 3 years of distribution/warehousing or sales/marketing experience, along with the skills to be a self-starting and self-motivated distribution professional.
* The ability to travel upwards of 50% of the time throughout the distribution center network, as well the ability and willingness to relocate to another Distribution Center within the United States at the successful conclusion of the training program.
* The ability to frequently bend, stoop, stretch, and frequently lift up to 50 pounds, as well as use office equipment with manual dexterity.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word.
* Demonstrated communication skills, both written and verbal, are essential.
* Experience with Oracle is a preferred, but not required.
