Director of New Products

One of California’s premier beverage companies is seeking a Director of New Products to develop and launch a new product line(s) and manage a recently launched brand currently in test market.  Respected as an industry leader and innovator for over 30 years, the company is experiencing strong growth through established brands and new products.  The company’s products include premium juice beverages, teas, and bottled water.

 

Responsibilities for this San Francisco-based position include new product strategy and development, strategic and marketing planning, program development and execution, budgeting, cross-functional team/project leadership, communication with internal and external parties, and forecasting and analysis. 

 

Key Duties:Develop and execute new product rollout plan for products currently in development.  Responsibilities include product/concept refinement, market research, positioning and packaging development, volume and financial forecasting, trade and consumer promotion planning, and marketing program development. Develop/refine the new products strategy and create a pipeline of viable new products.Develop and execute the marketing strategy for the recently launched brand (currently in test market), including communicating and reinforcing the brand positioning.

      4.            Develop and execute the annual and long-term marketing plans, including the annual marketing/promotion calendar.

      5.            Work with Sales to develop integrated sales and marketing programs and coordinate marketing activities.Develop, track, analyze and manage the annual marketing budget and programs. Recommend and manage outside market research, promotion and other marketing suppliers.  Develop Website/Internet strategy and programs.Develop and coordinate packaging as needed.Conduct business, market, industry and competitive research, tracking, and analyses.  Lead cross-functional teams and manage projects to completion in a timely manner. 

 

Required:MBA or equivalent.Minimum 8-10 years progressive brand management experience in consumer packaged goods (CPG) companies, including 2 years as a director of marketing or director of new products and at least 4 years of CPG new products development and launch experience.  P&L responsibility required.Food/beverage industry, specialty/natural foods channel, and food service/on-premise channel experience preferred.  International/multi-cultural business experience preferred.   Proven track record in developing and growing brands and businesses.Strong leadership, strategic, business management, and analytical skills.  Strong cross-functional team/project management, interpersonal, and influencing skills.  Excellent organization and time management skills.Proficient in developing and managing budgets and managing a P&L.Excellent oral and written communications skills.  Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word, Power Point, and Outlook.
